We went to her house on Thanksgiving Day
Kids were all getting in Granny's way
trying to get a piece of some apple cake
Homemade peanut butter icing on top
That’s when Granny missed the spittoon
whole place went to pot

started all the mess

She hit the dog in the head
The dog he started yelpin
He barreled out the door
Knocked over uncle Jarrell
And the table hit the floor
He ran behind the lawnmower
Still yelpin as he fled
Me and Ray got busted
caught us smokin in the shed
I tried to hit my brother with the basketball
Missed him completely put a whole in the wall
Scared my cousin Mattie she fell off the barn
Landed on the fence and she cut her arm
I climbed in the window cause the door was locked
and I heard ka pow!
Willy shot the dog
The boys started fightin
Uncle Roy blew his top
Aunt June went to cussin
whole place went to pot
Uncle Joe said he was leavin
Momma said you better stay
Dad was messin with his engine
And the car went up in flames
I walked back into the kitchen
